Sometimes it’s glossed over, but when you own and use a prepaid debit card you must reload it with cash from time to time. that’s how these cards work after all – they’re loaded up with cash first; you spend later. And so if you want to continuously use your prepaid card, you must continuously reload it.
The presents a small problem of inconvenience as you usually have to go buy a reload pack at your local drug store (or store where you bought the prepaid card in the first place) and then call a number to transfer the money onto your card. If you carry around a lot of cash this may not seem too inconvenient; but there is a better way.
You can set your card up to be refilled via a direct deposit. You don’t have to add a lot of money because it can be some small amount. But when you do set it up you won’t have to make another trip to the store for a reload pack. And not only is this convenient and time-saving, it can be money-saving as well. If your direct deposit is large enough, some reloadable debit cards will rebate you back the reload fee or they may even waive it altogether.
