Three Unusual Uses for Sticky Notes

Ah, the little sticky note. So small, but so powerful. So great to use as a reminder tool (“Pick up cat food” stuck to your bathroom mirror.) It’s very possible that without 3M Post-It Notes the world would fall into chaos.

What about some other uses for sticky notes? Let us count three ways….

1) Are you thinking of designing a home or rearranging furniture in a room? Use sticky notes as a temporary design element that you can move around as you plan a layout. Designate one sticky as an easy chair, group three together and you have your couch. Place them on a layout of your living room and rearrange as you see fit. For anything that needs to be moved around so that you can visualize how something will appear in real life — engage the services of the sticky!

2) As mentioned above, people tend to use 3M Post-It Notes as reminder tools. Usually, however, we use just one note per reminder. Instead, why not use several sticky notes to help you reach big goals. Write QUIT SMOKING on a wall in your room, using several of the little stickies per letter, or place ARE YOU REALLY HUNGRY? on the refrigerator if you’re trying to lose weight. Use the neon colored stickies to really get your point across to yourself.

3) Sticky notes can be a great helper for the practical joker in you. Why not cover your roommate’s car in stickies? Or place as many sticky notes as you can on a sleeping person. If it’s a sleepover or dorm situation, why not make a game out of how many you can place on the person before he or she wakes up? Of course, possibly the best known use of a sticky note for practical joke purposes is to cover a co-workers desk, cubicle or even entire office in stickies. Plaster the walls, the ceiling, the lights, the computer, the printer, the carpet, the chair, the desk, the photos and knick-knacks. Cover everything in multi-colored stickies. Your co-workers (with probably the exception of the person “Stickied”) will love you!

It is fun to discover your artistic side using sticky notes.  Whether you use them to write on, or to create art, the Post-it note is one of the most useful items available to consumers today.
