Health in Fashion

Being ‘health conscious’ has gained mass appeal over the years. It is not only a habit anymore – but has acquired a state of obsession, trend, style, and fashion. Gone are the days when people rarely cared about their ‘figures’ and ‘shapes.’ Gyms, fitness centers, and aerobic parlors have taken the society by storm, making all ‘adverse’ shaped people conscious about their ‘fatness,’ and how they can regain that perfect body structure.

Entertainment media, perhaps, has been affected most. The world did not seem as worked up towards making itself be in shape in yesteryears; however, in modern times, people have started cutting down on unnecessary calories, keeping their diets in check, and making sure to sweat profusely during work out hours, to tone themselves in a healthy shape.

Even average built celebrity artists have been taken over by ‘thin’ ones – whether it is a model on the ramp, or an actress advertising a health supplement. As we hear on gossip shows, celebrities have resorted to strenuous gym sessions to bring themselves to a size zero figure. To look ‘good,’ many opt for the alternative of plastic surgery.

Flabby bellies, swollen thighs, and blown out of proportion body structures has been replaced by delicate curves that help fit in the most unusual sized outfits. Options are plenty, which can primarily be divided in two contrasting categories – short term and long term.

Short term includes extreme diets, which although last for not more than a week, or two perhaps, sauna belts and similar equipment. Long term will include measures that have been well thought and implemented in exact amounts as required by the body – keeping in mind factors such as body tolerance.

Another factor that makes all the difference when it comes to health is food. Eating the right nutrients in right amounts is, perhaps, the key to a healthy body. Some foods that do not contain certain nutrients, or the right mix of nutrients, can be supplied to the body by health supplements.

Multivitamins, for example, are a type of health supplement that provide the right mix of vitamins required by the body – of course, depending on the requirement, which may be, again, dependent on a number of factors including a person’s age, heath related issues etc.

Not only is the purpose of food supplements to ‘supply’ extra nourishment, but it also plays a key role in fighting against potentially harmful compounds that may get generated inside the body. Antioxidants, for example, are formulated to eliminated oxidative compounds that can react and cause damage to cellular compositions.
