The feeling of a little life growing inside of you is truly magical and one of the greatest miracles that you will ever experience and cherish. However, while pregnancy is an exciting phase in your life, it will also be mixed with a roller coaster ride of emotions and sensations that are all part of being pregnant. This is especially expected during the first trimester of your pregnancy. Hence, this article will walk you through what you can expect during your first trimester.
Lo and behold, the first trimester is a phase where most women experience all the pregnancy woes. Some may experience it more intensely than others, and perhaps a few lucky ones won’t even experience anything at all. One of the early signs of becoming pregnant after conception is the bodily changes. No, you won’t feel the bulge on your tummy just yet but you might feel bloated, constipated and your breasts are obviously larger and more sensitive. You will also experience fatigue and you may feel more lethargic than usual. You may also experience heartburn and mood swings. These are all due to your pregnancy hormones prepping your body to the role of motherhood.
Remember, not all pregnancies are the same. Your pregnant neighbor might be complaining about the need to go to the bathroom frequently to pee, while you may not experience it at all. During the first trimester of pregnancy, your baby will be undergoing a lot of changes. From a single fertilized cell to becoming a peach-sized bundle of growing limbs and organs. Before you know it, you will feel delightful movements inside your tummy in just around eight weeks. Hence, it is important to have your pregnancy checkup early on the first trimester to ensure that your baby is growing as expected. By the fifth week of your pregnancy, most women will also encounter the woes of morning sickness – which do not necessarily take place in the mornings. In fact, you can experience it any time of the day and even at night! Your breasts will be distinctively larger by around that time as well and it would be so tender and tingly to the touch.
Your pregnancy woes for the first trimester will continue on with extreme mood swings especially on your 7th week- leaving you cranky one minute and cheerful the next minute. There will be a lot of roller coaster ride of emotions – from feeling down to suddenly feeling happy. From week 8 to week 12 you’d be having more woes such as headaches, metallic taste, aversions and many more. You may also experience cramping and spotting. This is also the time where you can develop urine infections as UTI is very common on pregnant women.
No matter how dreadful some of the pregnancy symptoms might be always take comfort to the fact that these are all temporary and it will soon come to pass. Besides, you might not even experience most of these symptoms at all. And even if you experience these pregnancy woes, it will all be worth it once you get to finally hold your baby in your arms.
