CNA has become a popular and high demand career. It is a career that does require training and requires specific skills in order to enter the field. For those that truly enjoy taking care of people, it is a wonderful career and one that does not go unrecognized.
There are several different ways in which those interested in the profession can train. cna classes are taught online and through community colleges. These may include free CNA courses or they may require a fee. Financial aid is also an option to many people that are interested in taking some of the paid courses. However, it does not need to cost in order to get your foot into the door, as free CNA training is available.
Where to Find Free CNA Training
Nursing Homes and Health Care Facilities are a wonderful place to obtain free CNA training. If you check in your local area, you will likely find several health care facilities that open their doors to those that are interested in CNA training. By contacting the head nurse of someone in the human resources department, you will be able to discuss the option to obtain free CNA training. This is an excellent way to obtain free training and it is also a means to have a job once you pass the CNA state exam.
Most of the nursing homes will not provide you with a salary while you are training. However, you will receive the training and most likely be offered a job with the facility when training is completed and you pass your state exam. Likely the health care facility will have you sign a contract stating that you are working for them for a set amount of time and receiving your CNA training during this time. If you do go this option, your definitely want to make sure that it is a facility that you enjoy the atmosphere, ethics and the people that work there.
Community Colleges and High Schools
Community Colleges and High Schools are another source to obtain CNA training. Through the community college and high school the training is class room training in which you earn your CNA license. When you have successfully completed the course, then you will be instructed on how to take CNA exam. The courses through the community colleges and high schools will include the cost of materials, such as books and other materials that are necessary for classroom involvement.
When taking a CNA course as opposed to the free CNA training at a health care facility, you will find that the course is likely much shorter than training in a facility. This is simply because of the structure of the program.
Once you complete your CNA training you will then have to pass the CNA state exam which is also referred to as the NNAAP or National Nurse Aide Assessment Program. Once you have passed the test, then you will be listed in your state in the National Registry list and be able to seek employment as a certified CNA.
