I’d never heard of mirrored furniture until recently. At home, my living room is pretty dark and has barely any room to actually ‘live’ in; I would love this room to look more spacious and bright without forking out for an expensive extension! I have painted the walls a light shade but this has only slightly helped, I was certain I couldn’t be the only one with this problem so began to ask around. I mentioned this predicament to a few people I knew and many people have told me how mirrored furniture could help solve my problem.
At first I wasn’t sure as I thought furniture would only add to the problem, however after looking at some pieces I saw how they helped create the illusion of space. The type of mirrored furniture I’m after is two chests of drawers and a table, I have seen a couple online that I like and have set myself a budget that I will hopefully stick to! I’m not after anything too fancy as the room is only small but I think with my light painted walls, the new addition of mirrored furniture will help light up the room and make it seem more spacious.
Although I am looking forward to buying my new furniture I am wondering how easy it will be to look after it. The one thing that worries me is keeping the mirrored furniture clean; being a busy parent with two toddlers I can envisage lots of little fingerprints! I know the pieces I buy will look great, but any marks will be seen quite easily. I’m going to give it a try regardless, I just hope my children will master the notion of ‘look don’t touch’ fairly quickly.
If all goes well with the mirrored furniture and I can manage to keep it clean, I’ll probably buy some more and introduce it to more rooms. Besides creating the illusion of space, the furniture itself is very elegant and would be suited to any other rooms. I’m quite excited about lighting up the rest of my home!
