History of Rail Transport and Railway

George Stephenson was the man who invented the first rail. The very first locomotive was invented by Richard Trevithick but the first steam locomotive engine was introduced by George Stephenson. The rail known as the Wagon ways was first used in the Germany in 1550. These were the primitive railed roads made up of the wooden rails. The horses would draw wagons and the carts were easily moved over the dirt roads. Wagon Ways were the very first modern railroads.
In 1776, iron was first used in manufacturing of wheels and they are known as the rims. The Wagon ways later evolved in the Tramways and were spread all over the Europe. In the year 1789 the first Wagons were designed with the flanged wheels. They were designed by an Englishman, William Jessup. The flange is actually a groove which was responsible for the better grip of the rail with the track and this proved to be the most important design in order to carry the locomotives.
In Ancient time ca. 600 BC, the basic form of the railway was launched in the ancient Greek and also in the Roman Times. According to Lewis the concept of railway was constituted for public but it did not recur until 1800. In England the very first rail appeared in the 1820. The system used the steam locomotive. This was the very first practical form of the mechanized transport on land and for the next 100 years this remained the only mechanized land transport.
Steam Engine was the very first invention in terms of having the locomotive which was one of the most critical inventions of the modern rail and the trains and also the rail roads. Samuel Homfray was the first man who sucessfuly took the step toward the development of the steam engine. He replaced the horse drawn carts and converted them into the tramways. Richard Trevithick was the first man who built the first vehicle that would run on these tramways.

Advancement
Between 1960s and in the early 1970s, the period of modern and advanced trains was about to start. In this time there werew more and more people who started to trust in trains and to use the for transport. This generated the need for further development and enhancement of the railway during this time. At the start of 1970s the makers succeeded in manufacturing such a technology that was responsible for the increased speed of the train. But the latest technology that was invented was the Magnetic levitation or MAGLEY. This was the locomotive which was far better and advanced then the other locomotives like the steam, diesel, and electric locomotive. This advanced version train helps not only in increasing the speed but also in the enhancement of the rail services. This is basically a method which not only helps in increasing the speed  but also ensures reduction of accidents, the main reason of which is the bad gripping between the rims and the track.
