Considering the role of leadership in our society, it would be good to ask ourselves whether spirituality can play a role in enhancing it. In the same way, there should be a reason for the society to change be it morally or politically. Lately, we have been experiencing episodes of war outbreaks all over the world. Leaders are being overthrown all over because they have been the cause of failure in so many countries. So does our leadership badly need a spiritual awakening?
Without a single doubt, leaderships is not earned, it is a gift that most of us do not have. Even those that have it get misled once in a while and this results in a lot of misfortunes. The ability to analyze and think intelligently is definitely not easily found. Thus one great way through which we can instill this gift is through spirituality. Thus this can be the concept used to develop change in the society.
If only we could make spirituality the foundation through which leadership is laid, it would be easier to develop change in the society. The reason many people are failing is because they fail to recognize the crucial role that spiritual qualities can play in enhancing leadership. For one, we do need a leader who is selfless, kind, genuine, forgiving and a million other qualities. Such people are rich in the spiritual world. The problem is that we have leaders who have put their interests forward and it becomes quite impossible to achieve anything. If change is to be achieved with such a group of leaders, a spiritual awakening would be necessary.
In conclusion, it will be necessary to blend spirituality and leadership if change is to be achieved. We either get rid of all the leaders who have no such qualities; or continue praying that the present ones will have a spiritual awakening in order to succeed.
