A lot of patients with prostatitis are worried about their prostatitis will be transmitted to their mates, so that they dare not to have sex. If this situation persists, relationship between husband and wife would be damaged, prostatitis patient’s own psychological pressure would be greatly enhanced. However, is prostatitis really contagious? Can patients with prostatitis not have sex yet? In fact, it is the pathogen which causes prostatitis that depends. Prostatitis is not a contagious disease. In this situation, patients with prostatitis can not have sex, let alone infection. Patients with chronic bacterial prostatitis does not need to worry about infection. Because possible pathogen to cause chronic nonbacterial prostatitis only infect the prostate gland and cannot be found at men’s perineum area. In the prostate fluid, there are large amount of white blood cells and only a few pathogen with low pathogenicity which can be killed in women’s vagina. Thence, if the prosatitis is caused by common bacterial infection, it is not contagious. If the pathogens is mycoplasma or chlamydia, things are different. Such prostatitis can be infected to the mates of the patients through sex. Mycoplasma and chlamydia as pathogens that are different from bacteria and viruses, are mainly transmitted through sex. Patients who are infected with mycoplasma, chlamydia all will have a situation that their condition recurs, and which is difficult to recover. Many couples visit the doctor together because they both are infected with mycoplasma or chlamydia, obviously, the disease is highly infectious. When the husband is suffering from prostatitis which was caused by mycoplasma or chlamydia infection, it is not proper to have sex, in order not to infect the wife. If the wife is also infected with mycoplasma, then both husband and wife must be treated simultaneously, sex should be avoided during treatment for preventing cross-infection. Whether it is infectious or non-infectious prostatitis, patients can all take Diuretic and anti-inflammatory Pill.
