So, maybe you’re thinking about fabricating a Polish passport or pasaporte polaco in Spanish… It sounds like a good idea, and it’s started to sound better and better as time goes on. However, if that’s the case, FREEZE! Step back, and analyze… Here are five reasons why it’s a rather dumb idea to forge a passport—especially one from another country.

1. It could change.

So, you’re trying to forge your passport. It sounds like a good idea, especially since you don’t want to have to go through such a long process. However, if you aren’t careful, you might end up going in with a new passport…from the wrong time period. Unfortunately, people don’t seem to realize that they need to check on these things to ensure that they’re updated before they actually get around to printing them! Unless you know the dates that the passport you’re attempting to forge came out, and can successfully replicate them (very unlikely), you’d best just do what’s legal and go and get your passport! It’s a silly idea not to!

1. Police aren’t dumb.

Let’s be frank—the movies are grossly exaggerated. The chances of you getting a fabricated passport past a customs official, and anyone else that you might encounter is about as high as the chance of an ice cube surviving on Parris Island in June. Needless to say, you might just want to go ahead and get your legal passport. And don’t. Ever. Trust. The. Movies. It’s just a horrible idea all around. Needless to say, if you get caught, not only will you be in loads of trouble, but they can hold you until they can confirm where on earth you came from. That could take a few days…months…maybe even a year or two. Just don’t do it.

1. Why would you trust someone who fabricates documents?!

This is a question that a lot of people don’t think about. Why would someone in their right mind not only buy a Polish passport or ciudadania polaca in Spanish from someone who they couldn’t trust? The person is lying to two governments already—you’re just as easy to lie to and if it came down to it, they’re just going to cut their losses and get you in trouble anyways. Don’t think that taking them down with you will be satisfying, either. Not only did you break the law, but you probably have the person who helped you to do that in the cell with you or near you. You can see how this is going to end.

1. Finally, you can do so legally.

Why not just go through the process? It might be a little tedious and you might need to take a little extra time to ensure that you get certain shots and stuff, but it’s not difficult to get a Polish passport. Just do it—you’d be surprised as to how simple it is for you to quickly and easily get your passport. These are just a few reasons why it would be a super dumb idea for you to try and fabricate these documents!
