Mana

If you love pop rock songs, then you must be a fan of Mana. Hailing from the beautiful country of Mexico, Mana has received numerous awards including the Grammy’s. Their sound was described by many music critics as pop rock with a little of reggae and ska. With the band’s ability to perform well in a large crowd, it’s no wonder that they are popular in Australia and Spain. They also have gained a fan base in Asia, Europe and in the US. The band’s vocalist named “Jose Fernando “Fher” Olvera formed the band with the guitarist Gustavo Orozco. They formed the band with three brothers named Juan Calleros on the bass guitar, Ulises Calleros and Abrahan Calleros playing the guitar and the drums, respectively. They started singing covers and fortunately in 1989; they were able to release their first studio album entitled “Sombrero Verde” under the record label Ariola. To make things more exciting, the group has released a next album with numerous collaborations from different artists including Cisne Raff. The singles entitled “Laura” and “Hechos Nada Mas” became worldwide hits.They released their third studio album entitled “Falta Amore” under a new label, Warner Music. “Rayando el Sol” was their album’s first single that hit the chart tops. Ulises Calleros, who was their guitarist, stopped performing with the band and started managing them. They added Ivan Gonzales to the group to do the keyboards and Cesar Lopez to replace Calleros in his duties. Without Ulises Calleros as their guitarist, they released “Donde Jugarian Los Ninos” and became the bands first ever internationally acclaimed album with the hits that include “Vivir Sin Aire” and also “Como Te Deseo”. Because of the success of this album, they were able to do more than 200 concerts in many different countries. That was their biggest achievement when it comes to performing live to date.

But unfortunately after the bands success, the two newly added band members namely Cesar Lopez and Ivan Gonzalez left Mana. And suddenly, the remaining members Fher Oldera, Alex Gonzales and Juan Calleros continued on with their career as a trio. With only the three of them remaining, they released their first live album entitled “Mana en Vivo” which they collaborated with the guitarist Gustavo and Sheila Rios. Having only three of them in the group, it did not stop them from receiving awards and recognition. In 1997, they received their first ever Grammy Award in the Best Latin Rock/Alternative Album.  Being an internationally known band, they did a live performance for the international music television MTV Unplugged entitled Mana MTV Unplugged. Their performance in that said show can now be bought on DVD.  At present, they are set to release their new album on 2012 entitled, “Drama y Luz”.
