Does maple syrup expire?

Probably most fans of pancakes are also very fond of maple syrup. A lot of people state that maple syrup doesn’t expire and can be stored for years. Unfortunately, that isn’t exactly true.  It might go bad, but it’s a very uncommon situation. If you need to store it for a longer period of time you should consider a few pieces of advice. Firstly, unopened maple syrup should be stored in the pantry. Secondly, opened syrup should be kept in the refrigerator. If you’d like to store it for a few years, you should consider storing the maple syrup in the freezer. It won’t freeze, but the freezer offers conditions in which no microorganisms that attack food can survive, so the syrup will be safe.
