Preventing cold and flu during the cold months of winter is something we all want to achieve; however, this is not as simple as it sounds and although many people believe that vitamin C is the way to go; it has been scientifically proven that it has little effect on the common cold; however, there are other ways to prevent it effectively such as Echinacea and vitamin D; among other possible preventative methods.
- Exercise to prevent colds: it will not only make you look better but will also boost your immune system which eventually will help to prevent cold and flu.
- Good night sleep: when you are stress your body normally reacts to it in different ways; this is why people who suffer from regular period of stress suffer from more illness that people without stress; one of the best ways to avoid it is by sleeping well; aim for at least seven hours each night.
- Wash your hands: it is simple; after being in contact with a person carrying the virus or if you are in public transport, at work and others; it is important to wash your hands in order to contact the virus.
- Cold and hot showers: it is believed that alternating cold and hot showers will improve your immune system and produce the white blood cells that normally fight colds and flus.
- Avoid public transport: if possible you should walk to work; this is not only a great exercise that will keep you healthy and fit but will also help to avoid you being in contact with these germs.
- Good nutrition: have you noticed that fit people normally get less cold? This is because what you eat is who you are; it will not only make you lose weight and look better but will also give you the vitamins and amino acids that your body need to fight illness.
