The job of a physical therapist is to diagnose, treat and monitor people who have been injured in some way and require rehabilitation. The injuries and illnesses that therapists see most often are work-related injuries and health problems brought about in some way by too much stress, being overweight or not getting enough exercise. Sports injuries are another common problem that physical therapists have to deal with often. Through the use of a wide range of procedures such as heat therapy, pool therapy, slow motion exercise and reduced load workouts, therapists help patients regain their ability to have a full range of motion in their joints/muscles and to reduce the pain their injury is causing them to the point that they can resume living a normal life. The average physical therapist salary earned by a physical therapist working in the United States in 2010 was just around $78,000.
