New Duplicate Content Screening Measures on Snipsly

Hi Snipsly Users,

As many of you know, Google has recently announced algorithm changes which have impacted the way many sites, including Snipsly, perform in Google search engine results.

Snipsly started off as a community meant to include everyone. From the mainstream to the fringe, we wanted to provide a platform for individuals to share their voice with the world.  There are many users on our site who produce great, informative content that is well written and of use to readers and we are so happy that you continue to write incredible articles in our community.  We want to ensure that we make our site the strongest that it can be in order to support those users who follow our rules, providing them with high rankings in SERPs as well as the highest possible AdSense earnings.

Unfortunately, there are also some users who have taken advantage of our openness and continue to post articles which violate our rules.  The most frequently broken rule?  No duplicate content. In order to combat this, we have instituted new software which analyzes all articles submitted to Snipsly and classifies those which contain duplicate content as “Pending”.  All posts deemed Pending will be reviewed by Snipsly’s moderators and will either be published live or removed from the site, depending on whether they do indeed contain duplicate content.  As of right now, this new policy applies only to articles written from this point forward, and will not influence articles which have been written in the past.

In case you are confused about what we mean by “duplicate content,” it is content that exists anywhere else on the web, whether it is written by your or not.  We still openly welcome backlinking to promote your articles on personal blogs or other websites, as well as your promotion of affiliate links, but we ask that your article be original to Snipsly.

If you feel as though one of your articles has been wrongly classified as duplicate or have any questions about why we have instated this new policy or how it will impact your writing, you are more than welcome to e-mail us at support@snipsly.com with any of your concerns.  If you write unique, original content, these new screening measures should have no impact on your writing process at all!

We’re always happy to discuss the site with our users and are always open to suggestions.  Thank you all for bearing with us throughout this algorithm change.  We will continue to work hard to make Snipsly the best site possible for our writers!

Please email us at support@snipsly.com with any of your concerns if you believe your article was mistakenly marked duplicate. Any requests for review must be sent to this email address and we will be happy to address it for you. If you simply post a comment on this page, we cannot guarantee it will be addressed. Emailing is the most efficient way to handle your duplicate content questions.

Thanks so much for using Snipsly,

The Snipsly Team

its a really nice move. for example if we r writting on a particular topic and some of the content might be similar coincidently, then will u reject the content also.

  • I think what you are saying is “Don’t submit the same exact bookmark to us that you have posted on other bookmarking sites.” (Incidentally, is there anyplace on here that informs us how to use an avatar with our Snipsly posts?)

  • I am all for this change. that being said, I htink perhaps the software has an issue.

I always write fresh pieces. I went back to two of my articles ( that have both been publish sucessfully within the last few days) to add a photo. When I updated with a photo it gave me the duplicate content voodoo.

It seems a shame that I cannot go make the articles BETTER

  • Hey Zentao01,

That is actually something we are currently working on, thanks for bringing it up. It is not the image that is the problem, but the fact that our software is looking for other content that is duplicate, seeing your article already published on Snipsly, and thinking you are someone who is trying to copy the original post. We are working to fix the problem as we speak, as we obviously encourage people to update and change their content as much as they’d like! I’m going to look into your articles asap and will get it sorted out for you in the meantime!

  • CoastalGhost, you’re exactly right. You can bookmark to the same articles, just change up the bookmark itself! In terms of an avatar, you now have that option on the “Profile” page on your dashboard!

  • The checking process typically will not take over 24 hours and we try to get articles updated and posted as quickly as possible. When you look on your Posts page you’ll be able to see if articles are Pending Approval, and once they’ve gone through the approval process they’ll either be marked Approved or Rejected.

  • Hi Swatz89, If you feel as though your article has been wrongly categorized as “Duplicate” please contact us about it at support@snipsly.com. We’re always more than willing to look into why articles are categorized a certain way and we’d be happy to take a second look for you!

  • Admin,

Thanks for the prompt reply. I am not too concerned about losing two articles. I just want to make sure it doesn’t happen again. I actually thought it might be what you said. thanks for working on the problem

There are many kind of foods in the world, some food are delicious and testy some are not but everyone try to find expected delicious and testy food, some man found it sometimes and some are not but if you try your expected delicious that you can find tom yum goong

  • I have a question for the Snipsly Team:

Actually this question has two parts but I would be grateful for clarification and thank you in advance for answers to them.

When posting bookmarks, these will need to be three sentences minumum — is that correct? And…With duplicate content being checked for, one should not actually copy/paste a small portion from the article being bookmarked, but should write an original descript for it — is this also correct?

    Response appreciated!
    JimLow

  • robertkellymoore

I post a fresh content but show here declined your content for duplicate content. How to post or how to write for Snipsly.

  • In response to Jim Lowrance — both points are correct! The minimum article length requirement is 3 sentences, and we ask that those sentences be original content even if you are writing a bookmark for an article that you have written elsewhere. Not only will this lead to the success of your bookmark on Snipsly, but it will also contribute to the success of your article that you are linking back to. If you have any other questions please don’t hesitate to email us at support@snipsly.com. We’re always happy to help!

    hi,

I do not know if this is the correct place to leave this question / comment or not. If not please remove.

I am one of a group of authors from one website (http://straighttalkautomotive.com) and we obviously want to increase our traffic, which is one of the reasons for writing the articles, but not the only reason. We have researched this question of “duplicate content” and how it would effect our marketing efforts. We considered what some call “Article Spinning” or “Article Leveraging” and decided after we saw one of our articles that had been leveraged or spun by someone else as totally unacceptable to us.

Then we read an ebook by Mike & Troy and it explained the concept of duplicate content very well and how Google looks at it. Unfortunately I only have the download link to the ebook if anyone else would care to read it.

    http://articlesubmissionreview.com/get-article-marketing-lies.html

the point I am trying to make is simply, if we have an article on our site, and submit that article to any other article directories, then obviously we have to either “Article Spin or Article leverage” to post that article here.

I understand your rules, but isn’t that going to cause greater loss through author attrition?

Hi snipsly team, i am new here and i am glad that atleast one article publishing site is looking very clean.

  • flekm

Hi Snipsly, I just submitted an article and unfortunately it was triggering a spam error. The article is unique and written myself. Kindly have a look.

  • Hey Flekm,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We took a look at your articles and found that you were right– we apologize for the inconvenience and are happy to have your articles on our site! They are now published live and you should see them as “approved” in your account.

Please let us know if you experience any more problems!

    Hi Snipsly

I posted an article and it was denied for duplicate content? So I rewrote the article again and it is still denied!
This is fresh content so I cannot understand why it is being denied all the time?
    Thank you

  • JHRizzo

How long does it take to be approved since it said I have duplicate tight away

  • helencarter76

Thankyou for the heads up. This will save a lot of problems from the start….

  • Sharan Sangha

I wrote an article on gingivitis , it is an article in my own words and its still pending approval. How long does it take for the process ?

  • Does your policy position restrict authors posting articles submitted to Snipsly from posting the same article with other directories? If that is what I read, I humbly submit that you will lose a some very good authors.

  • Hi Sharan. Sometimes the approval process takes a bit longer than others, I apologize if your article did not get approved quite as quickly as you were hoping1 I just went through and approved your article, so it is now live on the site (and it is great!). Thanks for your patience– there has been a very high volume of new user articles written in the past few days so we got slightly backed up! Looking forward to reading your future articles!

  • Hi James, if it said you have duplicate content, it will only be checked once the content is re-written an no longer duplicate.

  • Sharan Sangha

  • Daniel Clemmons

Still duplicated content, I am almost discouraged against my articles, and this website.

  • hello snipsly admin,
i just added a post & it got denied because of the duplicate content. But that content is not duplicate! I have written that article by myself & I have already published it on my website. Also the same article is live on some of the famous article directories as well. I think snipsly website considers SYNDICATED & DUPLICATE content as the same! But there is a BIIIIIIIIIIIIIG difference between syndicated & duplicate content, as far as my knowledge goes!
So I request admin to accept my post.
    Thank you.

  • Christa Joe
